Growing up I was the most picky eater ever. I literally only ate chicken, apples, strawberries and yogurt and that didn't change until high school when I added a few other things to the list. Since I have been in college however, I love to eat all sorts of foods, and feel like I still need to catch up since I have only barely started eating lots of these. One of my favorite things to do is go out and eat. I love to get dressed up nice and have an entree that I would never be able to cook at my house. I also hate to wash the dishes, so going out you don't have any pots, pans and plates that you have to wash.
I'm not a fan of chain restaurant. All of their food tastes the same, and taste like it was just heated up not fresh at all. I also like to support small local business. My boyfriend and I love to go to non-chain restaurants throughout the the valley. Every week we will go out to eat and I will give a review of the food as well as the restaurant.
This past Saturday we went to a place called My Florist Cafe located in Phoenix for lunch. I have been there once before with my sister but I obviously forgot how beautiful it is inside and how amazing their food is. There food I would almost consider artwork. I had the brie salad, in the salad was: sliced brie with caramelized pears, chicken, fresh berries and almonds served over mixed greens with a raspberry vinaigrette. I know it sounds really weird but it was incredible. My boyfriend had the Portobello Sand which, which is one of their signatures with, roasted portobello mushrooms, eggplant, roast beef, caramelized onion, provolone on garlic butter and pesto brushed rosemary foccacia bread. I honestly do not like mushrooms or eggplant, but on this sandwich it was pretty good. Prices range from about 10.00 - 18.00, not bad for their food creations. They don't make their food like this at Applebees or Chills. It's truly a unique place and I recommend it to anyone if they are ever in downtown Phx! Not sure where we are going this weekend, but I am getting hungrey just thinking about it!
