Miele's Italian Bistro

My parents were in town this past weekend to visit. Someone my dad works with told him to try this Italian restaurant next time he came to Phx. It's called Miele's Italian Bistro and its in Tempe. It was really cute and fancy inside, I loved how it was small and personal. I had a cheese tortellini in a white wine sauce. It was really good and much more authentic tasting than anything from the olive garden. My favorite dish was my mothers which was a lobster filled ravioli. Luckily my mom is not a big eater and let me have as much as I'd like. I'm starting to get hungry just thinking about it. Will I go back to eat there? Yes probably!

Fondue

I have never been to a fondue restaurant so I was really excited when my boyfriend surprised me and took me to the Melting Pot for our Valentines day dinner. i had work on Sunday, so we went on Monday night...which actually was way better because it wasn't too busy and we got a reservation for a time we wanted. It's really nice inside and we even got a private table with a certain. We probably wouldn't have been able to if we went on the 14th so that fun! The first course was a cheese fondue with veggies, fruits, breads and chips. It was really good but afterward your practically full and you still have so much more food on the way. The second course is a salad, followed by the main course which we had a variety of lobster tail, shrimp, fillet minion, chicken, spinach ravioli and steak. It all comes to your table uncooked and you get a pot of seasoned cooking oil/water fondue to cook your own food. It's was really fun cooking all of your food yourself at your table. The final course is the dessert and you get to pick out of almost ten different chocolates. I choose a caramel chocolate with almonds, you get strawberries, cheesecake, pound cake and marshmallows with the fondue. In the end your almost too full, but it was so worth it. It's definitely a fun date and you get to interact with and play with your food. I can't wait until the next big occasion for an excuse to go there!

Pizza!

This past weekend I met my sisters in Scottsdale for some drinks at Rare Earth Pizza Restaurant and Wine Bar. It's a fun and fancy place, and its covered in local artists artwork. They have the hugest selection of wine, and personally I love wine! I loved the white wine called 2006 Vermentino, from Italy and Sauvignon Blance, that was from Cali. After we had a few glasses of wine it was time to eat and they are most famous for their pizza so obviously that was what we choose. We got the most popular one said by the waiter because we all couldn't decide on just one, it was called the godfather and had sausage, roasted red peppers, white onions, prosciutto, olives and mozzarella. It was pretty good however I was tipsy and hungry so I probably would of eaten anything and enjoyed it. It was also kind of expensive. I might go there again for like a little classy girls night but its not at the top of my list.

Food for Thought!

Growing up I was the most picky eater ever. I literally only ate chicken, apples, strawberries and yogurt and that didn't change until high school when I added a few other things to the list. Since I have been in college however, I love to eat all sorts of foods, and feel like I still need to catch up since I have only barely started eating lots of these. One of my favorite things to do is go out and eat. I love to get dressed up nice and have an entree that I would never be able to cook at my house. I also hate to wash the dishes, so going out you don't have any pots, pans and plates that you have to wash.
I'm not a fan of chain restaurant. All of their food tastes the same, and taste like it was just heated up not fresh at all. I also like to support small local business. My boyfriend and I love to go to non-chain restaurants throughout the the valley. Every week we will go out to eat and I will give a review of the food as well as the restaurant.
This past Saturday we went to a place called My Florist Cafe located in Phoenix for lunch. I have been there once before with my sister but I obviously forgot how beautiful it is inside and how amazing their food is. There food I would almost consider artwork. I had the brie salad, in the salad was: sliced brie with caramelized pears, chicken, fresh berries and almonds served over mixed greens with a raspberry vinaigrette. I know it sounds really weird but it was incredible. My boyfriend had the Portobello Sand which, which is one of their signatures with, roasted portobello mushrooms, eggplant, roast beef, caramelized onion, provolone on garlic butter and pesto brushed rosemary foccacia bread. I honestly do not like mushrooms or eggplant, but on this sandwich it was pretty good. Prices range from about 10.00 - 18.00, not bad for their food creations. They don't make their food like this at Applebees or Chills. It's truly a unique place and I recommend it to anyone if they are ever in downtown Phx! Not sure where we are going this weekend, but I am getting hungrey just thinking about it!
